I have spent the last 15 years working in technology industries (computer and computer-related) and at the same time hitting my 15 year mark serving as an officer in the military. I've spent two years overseas with the military and 3 years overseas for non-government related work.

Renewable Energy in the NorthWest
John McCain, the democrate running on the Rupublican ticket for president, was just in Oregon stumping for votes and appealing to the masses in calls for 'clean energy'.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for energy independence. I'm even for environmentally friendly energy production. I agree nuclear should be a development option. On the other hand, in 2006 here in Washington voters passed I-937.. A renewable energy portfolio standard. Somehow, someone convinced most of the voters to stick their head in the sand and declare that hydroelectric generation was not renewable and not eligible for the credits under the inititive (can you say 'NO Dams on the Columbian' fringe).
